Abstract
The kinetics of the thermal substitution of (eta(5)-C5H4C(O)CH3)Mn(CO)(2)SC 4H8, (eta(1):eta(5)-C5H4C(O)CH2SCH3)Mn(CO)(2) and (eta(1):eta(5)-C5H4C(O)CH 2CH2SCH3)Mn(CO)(2) by phosphines and phosphites have been measured in tolue ne and xylene. A proposed dissociative mechanism involving cleavage of the manganese-sulfur bonds as the rate-determining step is supported by the act ivation parameters obtained. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd.
