The paper presents the results obtained by EPR spectroscopy applied to the
study of the SeO2 radicals formed at the gamma irradiation of pollycristall
ine Na2SeO3. 5H(2)O. Additional information about the nature of paramagneti
c centers were obtained with the reflectance spectra recorded on irradiated
and non irradiated samples. The radicals thermal disappearance kinetics is
presented and an adequate radiolysis mechanism is proposed. Spin densities
on selenium and oxygen atoms were calculated.
