The results obtained on macro- and microcombustion of eleven aliphatic amin
oacids, namely: D-, DL-, L-alpha-alanine and beta-alanine, DL-alpha-aminobu
tyric and beta-aminobutyric acids, alpha-amino-isobutyric acid, gamma-amino
butyric acid, D-, L, and DL-aspartic acids are presented. The values of bot
h combustion and standard formation enthalpies are correlated with their st
ructural and stability particularities. A hypothesis for using the formatio
n enthalphies of racemic mixtures as supplimentary means for characterizing
their composition has been proposed.
