The problem of the metal dissolution and the simultaneous cation discharge
from a binary electrolyte is discussed theoretically. Analytical formulas a
re obtained for the limiting current of the cation discharge as a function
of the electrode dissolution current, and for the distribution of concentra
tions of solution's components and electric potential in the diffusion laye
r. In the system involved, the limiting current of the cation reduction dec
reases drastically with an increase in the current of the parallel process
of metal dissolution.
