Amiodarone is a drug broadly used on cardiac arrhythmias despite its m
ultiple side-effects. We present the case of an adult male with sympto
matic ventricular tachycardia, receiving longterm amiodarone, who show
ed increased CK serum levels, sensorymotor neuropathy and secondary my
opathy. Cuadriceps biopsy showed atrophic changes and sural nerve intr
alysosomal deposits with intense axonal degeneration. The case illustr
ates the need to investigate and monitor peripheral neuropathy and mus
cular atrophy in chronic amiodarone use.
