Abstract
Comparative life cycle energy cost analysis for different electricity gener ators (photovoltaic generator, kerosene generator and diesel generator) use d during load shedding is presented. The parameters considered for calculat ion of the unit cost of energy are: the discount rate, inflation rate, IRED A loan facility to promote PV, operation and maintenance cost of PV and fue l generator (FG) set and the associated fuel cost. It is found that the uni t cost of PV electricity is comparable to or less than that of FG generated electricity at present market prices. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All r ights reserved.
