Metec-Congress: New developments in process technology

With Metec-Congress two sophisticated conferences took place on behalf of t he German Iron & Steel Institute (VDEh): The International Conference on Ne w Developments in Metallurgical Process Technology presented the latest pro gress in process technology and plant engineering as regards iron and steel production, casting and forming. The 6th European Electric Steelmaking Con ference focused on new developments in melting, metallurgy, furnace technol ogy, additional components and consumables. The injection of coal into the electric are furnace helps to minimize the amount of electrical energy, to shorten tap-to-tap-times and to reduce FeO. The injection of residuals not only improves process effectivity but also helps to discharge environment. Automization and process control allow an operation free from disturbances which makes this production line effective as regards both techniques as we ll as economics.
