Abstract
An efficient two-step method has been developed for the conversion of alcoh ols to substituted hydrazines. The use of N-tert-butoxycarbonylaminophthali mide as an acid partner in Mitsunobu reactions with a variety of alcohols p ermits the synthesis of the corresponding monoalkylated tert-butylcarbazate s and hydrazines.
