Characteristic features of operation and practical application of enzyme bi
osensors intended for determination of enzyme inhibitors referred to the co
mmon environmental pollutants. The influence of the way of detection of the
enzymatic reaction, the method of enzyme immobilization the composition of
the reaction medium on the analytical characteristics of determination of
inhibitors is considered. Published data on the design of biosensors for th
e detection of pesticides and heavy metals are summarised. Primary attentio
n was denoted to cholinesterase biosensors. The approaches to the estimatio
n of kinetic parameters of inhibition are considered and factors influencin
g the selectivity and sensitivity of inhibitor determination in environment
al. objects are considered. The potentialities and limitations of the detec
tion of environmental pollutants in real samples and in held conditions are
discussed.
