T. Benouachane et al., Cerebral chondrosarcoma in a patient treated for a nonHodgkin's lymphoma of the gastrointestinal tract., ANN PEDIAT, 46(10), 1999, pp. 686-689
Second malignancies, including hematological malignancies and sarcomas of b
one and soft tissue, have frequently been reported after chemotherapy and r
adiation therapy for a childhood cancer. A case of cerebral chondrosarcoma
with an infratentorial neurinoma is reported in a patient treated five and
a half years earlier by prophylactic central nervous system radiation and t
he IGR COPAD chemotherapy regimen for a non-Hodgkin's lymphoma of the gastr
ointestinal tract. The chondrosarcoma met Cahan's criteria for cancer treat
ment-related cancer. Wide surgical resection is currently the only curative
treatment available for this rare, slowly growing tumor.
