Abstract
Chemical meningitis developed in a bay with acute lymphoblastic leukemia du
ring central nervous system (CNS) prophylaxis. Cerebrospinal fluid examinat
ion showed pleocytosis and a high protein level. There were no malignant cy
tological findings. Calculated permeability of albumin across the blood-bra
in barrier (BBB) was more elevated than that of immunoglobulin or alfa2-mac
roglobulin. Magnetic resonance imaging(MRP) revealed diffuse pachymeningeal
enhancement without any intracerebral lesion. Subsequent CNS prophylaxis w
as postponed. CSF findings and BBB permeability returned to normal, correla
ting well with the decrease of MRI abnormality.
