Lead zirconate titanate ceramic powders have been surface modified by using
phosphor esther 0.3% in volume. The phosphorous modification gave higher d
ensities at lower temperatures associated with a reduction of the weight lo
sses during the densification process. From the relationships between ceram
ic processing and microstructure, it was established that the phosphorous s
urface modification allows the effective grain growth control as well a hig
her homogeneity in the grain size distribution.
