Abstract
We describe a new method for al,plying a strain gradient with different pro files to convert uniform fiber Bragg gratings into linear or non-linear chi rped ones. The chirping profile;Ind the chirp, rate of the fiber gratings c an be controlled by simply varying the tension applied. Both the theory and experimental results are presented.
