A 47-year-old man with a month-long history of personality changes was tran
sferred to the emergency department from an outlying clinic. At the outset,
his family noticed that he seemed tired and irritable. He was sleeping mos

e weeks, he barely talked, responding only with "yes" or "no." In addition,
he had urinary incontinence.
