Abstract
Introduction. Oral fungal flora of three hundred Benin children were isolat ed to determine an eventuel role in dental carie, Materials and methods. After swabing of inferior molar teeth and culture on chromaga(R) medium, 11% of children were colonized with fungal species: 5% with Candida albicans and 6% with filamenteous fungus. Conclusion. Oral fungal flora appears relatively weak and further studies a re needed to determine the biodiversity of filamenteous fungal Species. The role of C. albicans in dental caries is not determined in this Study.
