Abstract
The global market place is increasingly demanding safe process oils to redu ce the environmental impact of tires. The replacement of classified distill ate aromatic extracts by non-carcinogenic MES, TDAE, or naphthenic process oils will reduce the PAH emissions from tires by more than 98%, Rubber test s back-to-back with DAE with carbon black and silica filled vulcanisates sh ow a slight shift in wet grip performance and an improvement in rolling res istance for all alternative oils. MES type oils from different crude oils a nd refineries are fully interchangeable in rubber and compound formulations . MES have already been made on commercial scales in various parts of the w orld.
