Abstract
A possible way of recycling of ground tyre rubber (GTR, grain size: 0,4-0,7 mm) was followed by melt blending of GTR into various thermoplastic matric es. The influence of GTR addition on technical relevant properties like yie ld stress, Young's modulus, notched impact strength and damping properties was determined. In addition the GTR particles were swollen in paraffinic pl asticizing oil in older to alter their surface properties and the effects o f this plastification on the mechanical property profile of thermoplastic/ GTR blends were determined. Negative and positive effects of QTR incorporat ion. were found depending on the compatibility of QTR with thermoplastics.
