Ci. Valencia et al., Resonant excitation of the electromagnetic field within a bivalued groove ruled on a highly conducting surface, OPT COMMUN, 172(1-6), 1999, pp. 125-137
The resonant features of an open cylindrical cavity illuminated by a Gaussi
an beam are investigated. The problem is solved for both fundamental modes
of polarization using the integral method extended to deal with multivalued
profiles of the surface, Perfect conductors as well as highly conducting m
aterials are considered. Apart from highly selective reflectivity curves fo
r both polarizations, significant enhancements of the field within the groo
ve are present in the s-polarization case when the incident wavelength corr
esponds to an eigenmode of the cavity. Even though resonant effects also ta
ke place in the case of p-polarization, they are not so evident as in the s
-polarization case. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
