We study the influence of disorder on the magnetic properties of the :groun
d state for restricted geometries. We find that for two-dimensional systems
disorder enhances the spin polarization of the system. The tendency of dis
order to enhance magnetism in the ground state may be relevant:td recent ex
perimental observations of Spin polarized ground states in quantum dots and
small metal gains. [S0163-1829(99)05145-0].
