A new xanthone glycoside has been isolated together with mangiferin from Da
vallia solida. The structures were elucidated by chemical and spectral mean
s as 2-C-beta-D-glucopyranosyl-1,3,6,7-tetrahydroxyxanthone (mangiferin, 1)
and 2-C-beta-D-xylopyranosyl-1,3,6,7-tetrahydroxyxanthone (2). (C) 1999 El
