The modern physico-chemical, spectroscopic and biochemical methods hav
e proved an important tool to elucidate the constitution of reactive t
ransition metal compounds. This article presents a brief account of th
e synthesis and stereochemistry of dioxomolybdenum(VI) complexes of fl
uoroimines. The mononuclear complexes were obtained by bimolar reactio
ns of dioxobis(2,4-pentanediona-to-O,O')molybdenum(VI) with the monoba
sic bidentate fluoroimines containing N boolean AND S and N boolean AN
D O as the binding sites. Based on chemical analyses, IR and NMR spect
ra, conductance measurements and molecular weight determinations an oc
tahedral geometry has been assigned to the newly synthesized products.
The possibility of potential uses of these complexes as fungicides an
d bactericides, studied in vitro are also discussed.
