The roots and aerial parts of Tephrosia crassifolia afforded an isopropenyl
dihydrofuran biflavanol and a new chalcone. The structures and relative con
figuration were established by spectroscopic and chemical methods, and conf
irmed by X-ray diffraction. Crassifolin is the second 3,4 " ether-linked bi
flavan-4-ol to be isolated from the genus Tephrosia. (C) 1999 Elsevier Scie
