This paper presents the results of laboratory tests to determine the s
trength and creep properties of spray ice at temperatures near the mel
ting point. This information is needed for the design of spray ice isl
ands in nearshore arctic delta regions where water temperatures are of
ten warmer than -1 degrees C. The laboratory results are discussed and
design strength and creep parameters used in the design of the Nipter
k P-32 ice island in the Canadian Beaufort Sea are presented.
