Abstract
Rapid recognition of acute chest syndrome is essential In patients with sic kle cell disease. The condition can be particularly severe in adolescents a nd adults and often leads to death. In this article, the authors review the challenges of evaluating the syndrome and outline current treatment and su pportive care.
