This paper describes the Integrated Teaching and Learning Laboratory (ITLL)
of the College of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Col
orado (CU), Boulder. Not only does the building support and drive our curri
culum but the design of the building was curriculum driven. In fact, the bu
ilding itself serves as a laboratory instrument with more than 300 sensors
embedded throughout the building and the opportunity to perform experiments
on the building itself. All the sensor data are available on the Web. The
ITLL is truly an example of Winston Churchill's quote-"first we shape our b
uildings and then our buildings shape us.".
