Abstract
The coverage of Latin American journals by international databases influenc es the visibility of these countries' scientific output, and has a direct e ffect in their activity index per scientific discipline. Local, regional an d international character of the most visible Latin American journals in SC I expanded and restricted databases is analysed, as well as its influence i n the percentage share of each country in certain disciplines. Suggestions to enhance visibility of local journals are presented.
