Granular cell tumor is a rare nonmalignant tumor that can arise at several
sites in the body as a solitary or multifocal lesion. Only 6% of cases deve
lop in the larynx, There is general agreement that granular cell tumors ari
se from nervous tissue. Surgery is the only treatment. A case in a 57-year-
old woman with a six-year history of isolated dysphonia is reported. Direct
laryngoscopy demonstrated a polypoid tumor at the middle third of the righ
t vocal cord. Histology provided the diagnosis. The clinico-pathological fe
atures of this rare tumor are reviewed.
