Abstract
In this paper, we derive rigorously a classical simplified model of ocean c irculation, namely the so-called homogeneous model of wind-driven ocean cir culation [J. Pedlosky, Geophysical Fluid Dynamics, Springer-Verlag, 1979] a nd two of its possible boundary-layer behaviors, namely Munk layers and Sto mmel layers.
