QUANTUM-MECHANICS IN TERMS OF AN ACTION PRINCIPLE

The action principle of Schwinger is introduced. A formulation of quan tum mechanics in terms of an action principle is presented. A path int egral approach to the theory is also formulated, and it is shown that the two approaches are equivalent. The harmonic oscillator is examined using both methods as an example of how the formalism can be applied.
