OBJECTIVE. With the improved prognosis of patients with hepatocellular carc
inoma, the likelihood of diagnosing adrenal metastasis has increased. We pe
rformed percutaneous ethanol injection for adrenal metastasis in seven pati
ents and evaluated its efficacy.
CONCLUSION. Percutaneous ethanol injection was successfully performed in ni
ne nodules in seven patients. During follow-up, six nodules in five patient
s showed no increase in size. Four patients were alive 6-28 months after in
jection, one patient died of hepatic failure, one of brain metastasis, and
one of multiple metastases. Percutaneous ethanol injection can be an altern
ative treatment for adrenal metastasis of hepatocellular carcinoma.
