Sp. Yeh et al., Near-tetraploid minimally differentiated acute myeloid leukemia with extensive erythrophagocytosis by leukemic blasts, ANN HEMATOL, 79(1), 2000, pp. 36-39
Numerical change of chromosomes is common in acute myeloid leukemia (AML).
However, a chromosome number as high as near-tetraploidy is very rare, espe
cially in minimally differentiated AML (AML-MO), Erythrophagocytosis by rea
ctive or malignant histiocytes is common in malignant hematological disease
s: however, erythrophagocytosis by leukemic blasts is also very rare, espec
ially in AML-MO, We report here the first case of AML-ILIO with both of the
se unique characteristics: a near-tetraploid karyotype and erythrophagocyto
sis by leukemic blasts.
