This review developed from the discussions of two meetings, one was he ld in London, U.K. and the subsequent one, in San Francisco, U.S.A.; b oth were sponsored by The Foundation Fighting Blindness. The participa nts represented members of the U.K. and U.S.A. clinical and scientific communities, members of The Foundation Fighting Blindness and Interna tional Retinitis Pigmentosa Association advisory boards.
