Abstract
Heterotopic pancreas (HF) of the esophagus is rare. We report a patient wit h HP of the esophagus and review the presentation, treatment, and results o f the nine previously reported cases. Two patients had cancer. This high in cidence raises concerns that HP of the esophagus may be premalignant. Becau se surveillance endoscopy is not possible, all known or suspected esophagea l HP should be treated surgically. (C) 2000 by The Society of Thoracic Surg eons.
