Abstract
Kinetic studies of cholesterol oxidase-catalysed oxidation of cholesterol i n water/2-propanol mixtures showed a decrease of V-max/K-m values on the in crease of concentration of the organic co-solvent. Addition of 18-crown-6 t o the reaction medium results in an increase of V-max up to 16 times, and V -max/K-m up to 8.4 times, enhancing the activity of cholesterol oxidase in 2-propanol/water (88:12 v/v) to 3.5 times compared to the level observed in 46% 2-propanol.
