Mass transfer in liquid fluidized beds of magnetic ion exchange particles w
as studied under various conditions. In the system investigated magnetic st
abilization mostly resulted in poorer mass transfer rates as compared to co
mmon fluidized beds of non-magnetic particles. This work shows that an uncr
itical evaluation of common fluidized-bed relationships for mass transfer i
n liquid MSFB can result in significant overestimates of bed performance, e
