Abstract
Easily available chiral ketones were employed for the synthesis of opticall y active pyridyl alcohols, which were applied in the asymmetric diethylzinc addition to aldehydes, up to 89.4% e. e. was obtained using D-fructose-der ived pyridyl alcohol.
