Abstract
Protonation equilibria of some 5-substituted di(2-thienyl) ketones have bee n investigated spectrophotometrically in aqueous solutions of sulfuric acid at 298 K. The experimental pK(BH). values have been analyzed by means of t he Hammett equation. The calculated rho as well as the pK(BH). and m* value s have been compared with those for substituted 2-acetyl-thiophenes and phe nyl 2-thienyl ketones.
