In goats of the Brown Short Polled breed of the 2nd and higher lactations,
changes in amino acid composition of colostrum were studied from 2 to 72 ho
urs after birth. In all amino acids, a marked drop occurred in their conten
t (10-72%) during the period of 2-12 hours after birth. In His and Ile, a g
radual increase was registered during the period of 12-48 hours. In Ser, Pr
o, Ale, Val, Lys, Thr, Leu and Arg, the decline occurs within 24 hours, fol
lowed by an increase within 48 hours. In Asp and Met, the same course of va
lues was registered, when, from 2 to 24 hours after the birth, a sharp drop
occurred, followed by a moderate increase within 36 hours and by a sharp i
ncrease within 48 hours. Similarly in Tyr, Cys and Phe, the same course of
the curve was registered showing the decline within 36 hours after birth. I
n Glu content, the increase occurred within 24 hours, after this period, a
gradual decline set in. In Gly, an even decline was registered during the w
hole period under study. Except for Glu in all other amino acids, the break
down occurred in 48 hours after birth, when their increase set in again. A
fter this period, the drop occurred in all amino acids. In the NEAAs during
the whole period under study, the decline ranged 27.2-82.1%, in the EAAs 8
.9-84.8% and in the sum Cys + Met 41-59%.
