D. Strong et An. Azarenko, Altered dry matter partitioning of 'Starkspur Supreme Delicious' apple trees by nine rootstocks, FRUIT VAR J, 54(1), 2000, pp. 11-17
The dry matter partitioning to vegetative and reproductive components of 'S
tarkspur Supreme Delicious' apple (Malus domestica Borkh.) on nine rootstoc
ks in the 1980-81 NC140 Apple Rootstock Trial was determined in March. and
again in Oct.-Nov. 1990. Trees on MAC.24 and M.7 EMLA had the heaviest tota
l tree dry weight (DW), while M.26 EMLA was intermediate. Trees on OAR 1, O
.3, M.9 EMLA, MAC.9, and M.9 did not differ, and M.27 EMLA had the least to
tal DW. Total tree DW was correlated negatively with percent of fruit, spur
, and spur leaf DW and was correlated positively with the percentage of fra
me, 2-yr and 1-yr wood, current season's growth, and shoot leaf DW.
