This project, carried out by TUV Rheinland on behalf of the Landesumweltamt
NRW (Environmental Agency of the Federal State of North Rhine-Westphalia),
provides a calculation model with which the energy consumption and the exh
aust gas emissions of the air traffic in the vicinity of airports, regional
airports and air strips can be calculated. The movement frequency of each
aircraft model, the emission factors for each aircraft model and mode of op
eration stored in the model databank are used as starting values in connect
ion with standardised modes of operation. The results of the calculation ca
n be presented in a table and in cartographic form as line area and grid em
issions. In the cartographic presentation the location of the airports, reg
ional airports and airstrips is marked by different symbols. The results ar
e of such precision and structure that they can be further processed and pr
esented with the graphic information system SICAD/SD which is a standard in
North Rhine-Westphalia, This assures an easy processing, for example toget
her with the results of other emission groups for dispersion calculations.
