Abstract
A study is made of the elimination of a waste oil (tinnol), used as a lubricant in rolling, by combustion in a pilot sintering plant during firing. Tinnol and propane are simultaneously injected through separat e feedlines and the combustion process is monitored by analysis of the levels of O-2 CO, and unburnt gases in the gases produced during the first 3 min of sintering. It is considered that effective combustion o f tinnol was attained and its potential energy contribution demonstrat ed by pilot plant test results, which show that propane consumption de creased as the tinnol injection rate was increased.
