Abstract
4-Hydroxyphenyl- (3 and 4) and 6-hydroxyphenyl-1-methyl-2-pyridones (6 and 7) were obtained by the photostimulated reaction of 4-chloro- (1) and 6-chl oro-1-methyl-2-pyridone (5), respectively, with variously substituted cesiu m phenoxides (2). The reactions were proposed to proceed via an S(RN)1 mech anism.
