Abstract
A flexible method of reducing white noise in measurement signals by means o f real-time digital filtering is presented. Compared to the widely used ave raging filter, the new approach significantly reduces the delay of the step response of a filter, measured typically at the 50% level of the full step . The optimum filter coefficients are obtained analytically as a function o f a single weighting parameter.
