Design considerations for a recently introduced single-stage single-switch
input-current shaper ((SICS)-I-4) which combines the boost-like front end w
ith a continuous-conduction-mode dc/dc output stage are provided. A complet
e design-oriented mathematical model is derived for both discontinuous and
continuous conduction modes of operation of the boost inductor. The design
procedure is illustrated with the example of a 5-V/20-A universal line-volt
age range S4ICS forward converter.
