Abstract
A new schiff base complex of nickel(II), NiL { where H2L= N-(2-hydroxypheny l) salicyldiimine} has been prepared in good yield by direct interaction of schiff base ligand, H2L and NiCl2 and characterized by physico-chemical an alysis. Efficiency of the NiL complex towards catalysing epoxidation of ole fins in presence of various oxidants viz., NaOCl, KHSO5, H2O2, pyridine N-o xide (PyO), t-BuOOH, etc., has been examined and it is found that the Nit c omplex can effectively catalyze the epoxidation of olefins in presence of N aOCl and KHSO5.
