Abstract
The reaction of 5 alpha-cholestan-6-spiro-1', 2', 4'-triazolidine-3'-thione 1, its 3 beta-acetoxy 2 and 3 beta-chloro 3 analogues with chloroacetic ac id and fused sodium acetate in anhydrous ethanol affords 5 alpha-cholestan- 5'-oxospiro-6,2'-thiazolo-[3,2-b]triazine 4, 3 beta-acetoxy-5 alpha-cholest an-5'-oxo-spiro-6, 2'-thiazolo-[3, 2b]-triazine 5 and 3 beta-chloro-5 alpha -cholestan-5'-oxospiro-6, 2'-thiazolo-[3,2-b]triazine 6 respectively. The s tructures of the products have been established on the basis of their eleme ntal and spectral analyses.
