Abstract
Twenty-six patients were implicated in a nosocomial pseudo-outbreak of Fusa rium verticillioides. Examination of clinical records and handling procedur es revealed a fungal contamination of supposedly sterile containers used fo r biological materials. An accurate system of monitoring permitted us to de termine the origin of the infection and the means of its spread (Infect Con trol Hosp Epidemiol 2000;21:50-52).
