Abstract
We report on the application of the one-level FETI method to die solution o f a class of structural problems associated with the Department of Energy's Accelerated Strategic Computing Initiative (ASCI). We focus on numerical a nd parallel scalability issues, and discuss the treatment by PETI of severe structural heterogeneities. We also report on preliminary performance resu lts obtained on the ASCI option Red supercomputer configured with as many a s 1000 processors, for problems with as many as 5 million degrees of freedo m.
