The relationship between spatial and temporal patterns of dynamical behavio
r is studied in the nonequilibrium, extended homogeneous system. We present
an example of "anomalous" relationship between spatial and temporal patter
ns of behavior and discuss possible mechanisms of this phenomenon. By anoma
lous relationship we mean a situation when only chaotic temporal dynamics i
s possible in the spatially homogeneous regime, while in the spatially inho
mogeneous regime temporal dynamics can be regular at the same value of para
meters. We studied this phenomenon in the array of identical coupled Chua's
circuits.
