Abstract
Significant progress in understanding multiphase flows has been made by rel ating macroscopic properties to small scale behavior. This is illustrated b y considering the impact of interfacial stability on the prediction of flow regimes and the use of an understanding of the influence of fluid turbulen ce on entrained particles to describe rates of deposition.
